The 122nd Monsoon Flower Show and 51st Indoor and House Plants Show jointly organised by Nagpur Garden Club and The Hitavada at Kusumtai Wankhede Hall on Sunday turned into a paradise of fragrance. The early morning atmosphere started on a colourful note for the visitors who were greeted by vivid colours of the myriad of flowers. And not to miss was the creativity put in by that garden lovers that was on ample display at the venue. Visitors were greeted with the rows of roses, large cacti, hybrid roses, floribundas, bonsai, medicinal plants, indoor plant collections, and vegetable baskets arranged in artistic design that left everyone amazed. Rangolis made from natural elements further added charge to the exhibition, where the main attractions was one based on Operation Sindoor, and another creating a 3D clay tortoise.
 
A vegetable basket category was introduced to encourage growing one’s own fruits and vegetables. At the outset, chief guest Gajanan Nimdeo, State Information Commissioner (SIC), inaugurated the event. President of Nagpur Garden Club Anuja Parchure, Padma Deshraj, Aasawari Shenolikar, Magazine Editor, The Hitavada, also were present. Rekha Deshmukh formed a special arrangement on the theme of ‘Let’s Make Nagpur Green and Flowery.’ She won 66 prizes at the show. MMP Industries Umred secured the first position with 24 prizes, while Nadeem Rehman won 23 prizes, Prashant Telang won 14 prizes, and Mansoora Hasan won 8 prizes. Prashant Telang won the ‘King and Queen, Samrat and Samradhani of Indian variety of roses’, MMP Industries Umred won the ‘Prince of Roses’ and ‘King and Queen of Miniature’, Anil Tarare won the ‘Princess of Roses’, VNIT won the ‘King of Floribundas’, and Mansoora Hasan won the ‘Queen of Floribundas’. Mangesh Thaware and Dipak Laybar won three prizes in the bonsai category. Rashmi Kanungo won the first prize, Swaroop Lakshmi won the second prize, and Advika Raut won the third prize in the medicinal plant category. Twelve schools participated in the Floral Carpet Competition. Tip Top Convent won the first prize, BVM Civil Lines won the second prize, and NEERI Modern School won the third prize.
 
While addressing the function, Nimdeo said, his association with the Nagpur Garden Club began when he was preparing for his exams and was advised by an authority to visit the Club. Around 80 children made rangoli using only natural elements like flowers, twigs, seeds, pulses, and grains at the event. Shrikant Difode, Atul Mendhekar, Sharad Paliwal, Ashok Pathak, Tanmay Godghate, Rajshree Bapat, Lata Vyavhare, Lata Andhare, Padma Deshraj, Supriya Naware, Arati Rajkondawar, Manisha Thakkar, Rashmi Kanungo, Madhuri Deo, Saroj Desai, and Gunjan Khandelwal contributed to the event’s success. Stalls were also set up by members, including Krishi Kranti Kendra and Shams Nursery.
