ACB caught the duo red-handed at Hudkeshwar Police Station  
 
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur, on Wednsesday caught a probationary Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) and a woman constable red-handed while they were accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000 from the complainant. The complainant, a 29-year-old man from Nagpur, had approached the ACB after the two police officials allegedly demanded money in exchange for providing documents required to file a claim with the Accident Claims Authority. The accident had involved the complainant’s father and the documents were crucial for pursuing compensation. According to the ACB, the accused have been identified as Akash Sakore (28), a probationary PSI, and Sharda Sadashiv Bhere (Alotkar), a woman police constable (Class 3), both attached to Hudkeshwar Police Station. The complainant alleged that the duo demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 for handing over the necessary papers.
 
After receiving the complaint, the ACB conducted a verification on Wednesday which confirmed the demand for the bribe. A trap was then laid at the police station, where Sakore and Bhere accepted the bribe amount of Rs 8,000. They were caught red-handed by the ACB team. Following the operation, the houses of both accused are being searched, and their mobile phones have been seized for further investigation. The ACB stated that the process of registering a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018), is currently underway against both officials. The action was made by SP ACB Sagar Kawade, Addl SP Madhuri Bawiskar, Dy SP Shubhangi Wankhade, PI Ravindra Sahare and several other ACB officers.
