State PWD Minister Rakesh Singh along with other ministers inspects Veerangana Durgavati Flyover
State PWD Minister Rakesh Singh, accompanied by MP Ashish Dubey, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, senior BJP leaders, officials and representatives of social and trade organisations, inspected the newly inaugurated Veerangana Rani Durgavati Flyover on Monday. On the occasion, Singh administered a pledge to all for keeping the Madhya Pradesh’s longest flyover clean, organised and free from any undesirable activities.
Addressing a huge gathering, Singh expressed concern over recent incidents tarnishing the city’s image. He said some visuals on social media show people spitting gutkha and pan masala on the flyover’s boundary, performing dangerous stunts on vehicles, sitting in groups for parties and even making reels. Such acts are not only a threat to safety and cleanliness but also an insult to the dignity of Sanskardhani, he said.
Highlighting the importance of the project, Singh said that “Veerangana Durgavati Flyover is not just a bridge for traffic, it symbolises our aspirations and the bright future of Jabalpur. It connects us to modernity while ensuring faster growth and progress. Maintaining its beauty, cleanliness and safety is our shared responsibility.”
The PWD Minister credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for their vision, under
which Madhya Pradesh received its biggest flyover and India’s largest cable-stayed bridge. He said this is not only a matter of pride for Jabalpur but for the entire state. Preserving it for future generations is a collective duty, he stressed.
Appealing to the citizens, Singh said this flyover has been built to ease transportation, not as a picnic or party spot. Let it stand as a symbol of our culture, discipline and civic responsibility.
Amongst those also present on the occasion were BJP District President Ratnesh Sonkar, MLA Abhilash Pandey, former minister Sharad Jain, Collector Deepak Saxena, SP Sampat Upadhyay, Municipal Commissioner Priti Yadav along with hundreds of prominent citizens and representatives of various organisations.
