What matters more is Mr. Narendra Modi’s leadership method whose description or definition is not found in any book on the subject -- except possibly the Vedas that often talk of men and women of high spirituality glowing like the Yadjnik flame -- giving not just light but giving energy (Urja in Sanskrit). The current surge of India in every field is thanks to that leadership Urja.
The nation’s achievements under Prime Minister Narendra Modi:
  • l 56 crore Jan Dhan accounts with deposits worth Rs. 2.67 lakh crore;
  • l 81 crore people getting free ration since COVID time;
  • l 10.33 crore Ujjwala gas connections;
  • l 52 crore Mudra loans -- worth Rs. 33 lakh crore;
  • l 1.57 lakh start-up enterprises;
  • l 118 Unicorn start-ups (with valuation of 1 billion dollars each)
..... IT IS perfectly fine to quote such mind-boggling statistics to highlight India’s achievements under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. These numbers do point to how the Modi Government has functioned in the last 11 years. However, as the Prime Minister chooses to mark his 75th birth day with a vow to do better for the country’s 1.4 billion people,it is time to delve deeper into Mr. Narendra Modi’s contribution far beyond statistics. For those who have tried to analyse and decipher the Modi metaphor, the stats point to only the material aspect of his leadership’s success-story.

There is something much deeper in his personality that the nation understands but does not try to underscore: The spiritual core of the Prime Minister’s personality. It is this core that makes Mr. Narendra Modi a unique person -- a lone member of his own league. As the nation celebrates Mr. Modi’s 75th birth day, it is essential to understand this spiritual core that is devoid of even a grain of personal ambition. This man has nothing personal to his life -- no personal family bonding, no personal interests ! There is no other person in politics with such a sense of mission. So, Mr. Narendra Modi expends all his energies to the nation’s cause -- defining the cause, planning for the cause, ensuring implementation. In the process, he works almost round the clock -- with rumours doing the rounds that he has reduced his sleep-time as well so as to be able to spend more time in the service of his avowed mission of Viksit Bharat (Developed India). These rumours may not be true, so to say, but the people tend to believe such stories as facts because they know that the man called Narendra Damodardas Modi has adopted a yogi’s way of life -- frugal consumption for personal health, restricted rest, calibrated exercise, profound meditation on a daily basis as part of his personal religiosity and deep and unwavering commitment to the avowed mission of nation building.

With such a lifestyle already in operation, people readily believe that the Prime Minister must have reduced his sleep-duration as well to find more time for work. What drives this man, however, is not any political ambition -- though he is neck-deep in politics of nation building. His work does not pertain to political plotting or piloting the Bharatiya Janata Party - BJP -- to success. That forms only a superficial layer of his assignment. His actual task or mission is to give the country enough power to make genuine progress towards development beyond politics. So, 56 crores of Jan Dhan accounts or 81 crore beneficiaries of free ration or 10.33 crore Ujjwala gas connections or 52 crore Mudra loans or 1.57 lakh start-ups or 118 unicorns are only the statistical and superficial pointers of Mr. Modi’s method and manner.

The inner being of the man is of a hard-driving leader full of ideas but also full of humility and readiness to lend ears to every new and good idea. Statistics are all right for political projection of Mr. Modi’s success as Prime Minister. But what matters more is his leadership method whose description or definition is not found in any book on the subject -- except possibly the Vedas that often talk of men and women of high spirituality glowing like the Yadjnik flame -- giving not just light but giving energy (Urja in Sanskrit). The current surge of India in every field is thanks to that leadership Urja. Mr. Narendra Modi is driven by a divine Urja that keeps him up and about all the time -- like a man possessed with an abiding sense of mission, like a man called for the cause. Even when he was not the Prime Minister -- or even when he was not even the Chief Minister of Gujarat -- Mr. Narendra Modi was an self-inspired man all eager to give himself unto the fulfillment of the avowed mission undertaken on divine spur. To such a person, being in power or not makes only a superficial, incidental difference. For, when one is inspired by an ideal, one does not think of material gains or losses. All one does is to dedicate one’s own energies fully and unequivocally to the cause. Swatantryaveer Savarkar wrote four great lines in Marathi to describe such a person: Kee ghetaley vrat na he aamhi andhateney (We have taken the vow not blindly) Labdha prakash iteehas nisarga maaney, (It has the sanctions of conscience, history and Nature) Je divya daahak mhanoni asaavayache (This may be incendiary) Buddhyachi vaan dharile karee he satiche (We are holding this ball of fire knowingly). This sums up the Modi metaphor best.
