The Ashwin Navratri celebration at Sindhi Colony, Khamla, which stands tall against Airport Centre Point, reached a peak of devotion as the Sindh Mata Mandal unveiled its immersive tableau, themed around the pilgrimage sites of Jaipur, Rajasthan, and the Pandav Mountains (Dungri). The installation transforms the venue into a structured devotional landscape that guides visitors through a sequence of sacred spaces.
The centerpiece of the tableau is the idol of Durga Mata, seated on a raised throne. Her image, draped in saffron and yellow, is accompanied by the traditional weapons, including the Trishul. The throne is placed against a backdrop of interwoven floral patterns, while rows of copper kalash holding Akhand Jyot extend across the foreground.
The layout of the installation emphasises depth and circulation. The main altar is defined by contrasting colors and framed within a larger spatial arrangement. Beyond this central point, a patterned floor leads toward a temple structure capped with a white shikhar. Another section replicates the rugged terrain of the Pandav Mountains, allowing devotees to navigate through a simulated cave environment while engaging with multiple deities.
The Pandav Parvat Yatra within the tableau provides a structured pilgrimage path. Devotees encounter darshan of Shri Ganesh, Baba Narmadeshwar Mahadev, the ten-faced Jyotirlinga, and Khatu Shyam Baba.
The experience concludes with a ‘snowy pilgrimage’ section, featuring a human-faced Ram devotee Hanuman, where the faithful walk through a simulated snow pathway.
The festival began on Monday, with former MLC and former mayor Prof Anil Sole inaugurating the event. General Secretary Prakash Totwani noted the Mandal’s 29-year tradition of organising structured devotional experiences. The celebrations will culminate on Ashtami with a homa havan conducted by Maharaj Pandit Vijay Sharma, followed by the distribution of langar prasad. The tableau and festival are a result of coordinated efforts by the Mandal, including President Narayan Bhojwani and committee members Parmanand Shambhuwani, Rajan Ramchandani, and Dilip Chainani.
