Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Chhattisgarh Circle has made remarkable progress in expanding telecom services and digital connectivity in State, achieving significant milestones in 2024-25 across 4G services, FTTH connections, and rural internet penetration.
So far, the Chhattisgarh Circle has upgraded 2,705 BTS sites to indigenous 4G. Under Phase IX. 2,1,823 out of 1,873 towers have already been upgraded, while 467 out of 665 towers sanctioned under the Digital India Fund DBN (USOF) project have been successfully commissioned.
This expansion has helped BSNL add nearly 4 lakh mobile subscribers in 2024-25, of which 1.3 lakh customers migrated from other operators through MNP. In the current financial year alone, BSNL has provided 1.25 lakh new mobile connections, with 17,000 users added via MNP.
To further boost accessibility, BSNL launched the Freedom Plan at just Rs 1 for new and MNP customers. Offering 2GB data per day, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS per day for 30 days, the plan, valid from August 1 to September 15, 2025, attracted 74,000 new customers. The number of FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) subscribers in Chhattisgarh has risen to 51,441, with 6,261 new connections added this year. All wired connections in Ambikapur, Bastar, and Raigarh have now been migrated to fiber media, ensuring faster internet speeds, lower latency, and improved security for users.
Under the BharatNet Project, BSNL has connected 1,924 gram panchayats and 759 schools in Chhattisgarh with high-speed optical fiber internet. This initiative has enabled better education, healthcare, e-governance, and economic development in rural areas, allowing villagers to access a range of digital services. Nationally, BharatNet aims to connect 10,095 gram panchayats, with 4,114 covered in Phase-1 and 5,981 in Phase-2.
Work is underway to connect the remaining 1,683 gram panchayats under the amended project. BSNL is strengthening its Enterprise Business (EB) segment, providing services such as Campus WiFi, LAN networking, SIP/IP-EPABX, and leased lines, widely used by banks and post offices. The company has also offered free WiFi services at Dongargarh and Danteshwari Temple premises.
For retail customers, BSNL introduced the National WiFi Roaming service, enabling FTTH users to access internet anywhere in India, and launched IFTV/IPTV services in January 2025, offering more than 300 live TV channels. BSNL’s upcoming plans include connecting the remaining 1,683 gram panchayats under amended BharatNet project, installation of 834 new mobile towers for better coverage, FTTH connections in 3 new colonies via RWAs and launch of BSNL e-SIM services soon.
