Large parts of western and north-western Madhya Pradesh remained dry in the last 24 hours, even as moderate to heavy rainfall was recorded in several districts of the central and eastern regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has officially announced the beginning of the southwest monsoon’s withdrawal from some parts of the State. According to IMD data, weather remained mostly dry in Ratlam, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Gwalior, Bhind, Morena and Sheopur districts, with no significant precipitation reported.
These districts are among the first in the state to experience the seasonal retreat of the monsoon.
Meanwhile, rainfall activity picked up in eastern and central Madhya Pradesh, particularly in Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Mandla regions. Rain was recorded at many locations in these divisions, while Bhopal, Indore, Narmadapuram, and Ujjain divisions saw rainfall at isolated places. The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from several districts in northwestern Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior,
Datia, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and parts of Ujjain, Rajgarh, and Ashoknagar. This marks a shift towards post-monsoon weather conditions across the State. For the next 24 hours, the IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning in many districts of eastern and southeastern Madhya Pradesh, including Dindori, Mandla, Anuppur, Balaghat, Shahdol, and Jabalpur. A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for isolated pockets in Dindori, Mandla, and Balaghat. Isolated thunderstorms are also expected in Bhopal, Indore, Raisen, Vidisha, and surrounding districts.
