Moderate to heavy rains lashed many parts of Vidarbha in last 36 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted moderate rains in Vidarbha from September 26 to 29 due to presence of a cyclonic circulation in Bay of Bengal (BoB) which is causing widespread heavy rains in some parts of Central India, Odisha, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra.
 
The weather department predicted more rains during Navratri festival in Vidarbha. Nagpur city witnessed moderate rains on Saturday morning and again in the evening that caused water-logging at low-lying areas. The heavy rains were accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning in many parts of Vidarbha on Saturday. Chandrapur witnessed the highest rains in last 36 hours in Vidarbha as the district administration measured 103 mm rains.
 
Akola, the hottest place in Vidarbha, reported 70.6 mm of rains in last 36 hours. With 68.8 mm rains, Washim recorded the third highest rains in Vidarbha in just 36 hours. Gadchiroli (63.2 mm), Amravati (39.4 mm), Bramhapuri (35.4 mm), Yavatmal (31.8 mm), Gondia (21.2 mm), Wardha (19 mm), Buldhana (18 mm), and Nagpur (25.8 mm) also witnessed rains in double digit in last 36 hours. Bhandara recorded only 3 mm rains in last 36 hours.
 
Due to cloudy weather and rains the maximum temperature dropped drastically in all over Vidarbha on Saturday. With highest rains, Chandrapur also witnessed the highest dip in 24 hours maximum temperature with 6C. Nagpur witnessed 5.6C drop in day temperature in just 24 hours. Gadchiroli, Wardha and Washim also recorded a steep drop in just 24 hours.
