In a swift action, Purani Bhilai police arrested a domestic help accused of extorting Rs 15 lakh from a 75-year-old retired railway employee by threatening him to implicate in false rape case and molestation of her minor daughter. Police said the victim, a widower and resident of Ward 24, BMY Charoda of Rs 10,000 per month.
 
After a few years, she allegedly began neglecting her duties and, when confronted, started threatening him. As per the complainant, the accused woman threatened the victim elderly man that she would file false cases of rape and molestation of her minor daughter unless he paid her money.
 
in the case the frightened senior citizen gave her cheques amounting to Rs 3 lakh, Rs 7 lakh, and Rs 5 lakh on different occasions. Despite receiving Rs 15 lakh, the accused woman allegedly demanded another Rs 40 lakh, exploiting his loneliness and fear. Upon complaint, Purani Bhilai police registered the offence under section 308(6) BNS and initiated investigation into the case.
 
ASP (City), Sukhnandan Rathore told the media persons during the investigation the accused woman admitted to extorting money and revealed that she had purchased a plot in Panchsheel Nagar and deposited Rs 5 lakh in her bank account with the proceeds. Both the land documents and the money were seized by police. The accused woman was arrested on September 27 and produced before the court.
 
The identity of the accused woman has been protected to avoid social taboo for her. He praised the officials including Station In-Charge Amber Singh Bhardwaj, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gangaprasad Srivas and woman constable Tripti Verma for praised for their role in the investigation and legal action in the case.
