Municipal Commissioner Ramprakash Ahirwar conducted an intensive review of five departments on Saturday and issued strict warnings, penalties and notices to ensure timely progress and accountability in civic works. During the meeting, the Municipal Commissioner expressed strong displeasure over the slow pace of work under the AMRUT 2.0 project, where progress has reached only 16 percent so far.

He pulled up officials of R B Consultant for providing incomplete information and failing to achieve expected targets. A show-cause notice has been issued to the team leader, directing him to submit a comprehensive progress report and field-level updates within a week. Ahirwar warned that if satisfactory improvement is not achieved, the company’s contract may be terminated. The Municipal Commissioner also took note of delays in restoration works, construction of overhead water tanks and pond development projects.

He directed officials to stay in the field, cancel all leaves until progress is visible and ensure projects are completed with high quality within the stipulated time. In his review of the Garden Department, Ahirwar imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on contractor M Waris Construction for improper painting of dividers during the monsoon season. A notice was also issued to the concerned sub-engineer for negligence.

The Water Supply and Health Departments were instructed to bring immediate improvement in their work and to remain fully updated with complete project details. Reviewing the system of outsourced workers, Ahirwar directed that all contractual employees must register their attendance through the e-attendance system within two days.

He made it clear that after the deadline, action will be taken against outsourcing agencies as well as departmental heads who fail to comply. On revenue collection, the Municipal Commissioner stressed the need for continuous improvement. He reminded taxpayers that only three days remain to avail tax rebates, urging them to clear dues before September 30 to avoid surcharge. For convenience, cash counters will remain open even on Sunday.

He also instructed revenue officials to intensify recovery efforts, maintain respectful communication with taxpayers, and ensure maximum collection. Ahirwar further reviewed arrangements at immersion ponds, lakes and ghats ahead of upcoming festivities. He directed divisional officers and technical staff to ensure proper facilities and maintain round-the-clock presence at designated sites.
