The Raipur District Administration has launched the ‘Mera Gaon, Meri Pehchan’ project under the guidance of Collector Dr Gaurav Singh, over 80 villages have been selected for the initiative, with a dedicated departmental officer appointed to each village to ensure its social and economic development. The officers are tasked with ensuring that all government schemes reach every villager. One notable example is the village of Rakhi in Arang, which has been designated as a women-friendly village. The project’s implementation officer for Rakhi is District Women and Child Development Officer Shail Thakur. The Women and Child Development Department is taking several key steps to transform this village, which has a population of 1,877, into a model for women’s empowerment.

The ongoing efforts are focused on making Gram Panchayat Rakhi free from child marriage, malnutrition, domestic violence, and drug abuse. As part of the ‘Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao’ campaign, skill development camps and workshops on legal rights are being organised for adolescent girls. These sessions also emphasise mental, physical, and personal hygiene. The project has held workshops on preventing child marriage, child reference camps, and oath-taking for the ‘Har Ghar Munga’ campaign. The administration is committed to continuing these social and educational activities to develop Rakhi into an ideal village for the future.
