With Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) completing 100 years of its existence on this Vijayadashmi, various events are planned to mark the occasion. Vidarbha Sanskar Bharati has come up with a very different and unique event. It is creating ‘Rangoli’ portraits of 100 people who contributed to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s work. These portraits are being made at the Maharshi Vyas Hall. Drawing ‘Rangoli’ was not a difficult task for the organisers but procuring photographs of 100 ‘Sanghvratis’ was. Basically, thousands of people at several points of time contributed to the growth of RSS so identifying only 100 was not easy.

Most contributors remained away from publicity so their photographs were not available. For example, the photos of all 17 people, who attended the first meeting convened by first Sarsanghchalak Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar at his residence in 1925 that gave birth to RSS, are not available. So, it was decided to drop such personalities. Sanghvratis sacrificed their lives for the service of the motherland. On the occasion of the Sangh Centenary, it would be timely to remember these great sons of the country. Keeping this in mind, Vidarbha Sanskar Bharti has organised an exhibition of 100 portrait ‘Rangolis’ and the publication of their information booklet to pay tributes to selected deceased Sangh pracharaks and Sanghvrat activists. The work on the idea started in June this year. It was decided to allot work of drawing ‘Rangoli’ to 100 artists from all over Vidarbha.

These artists reached Nagpur on Sunday (September 28) evening and the work began right away. It continued till 3 am. The work is supposed to complete by Tuesday afternoon. The project came into being under the guidance of Sanskar Bharti’s Pashchim Kshetra Pramukh Chandrakant Gharote, Akhil Bharatiya Mantri Ashutosh Adoni, Vidarbha Prant President Kanchan Gadkari, as well as Matrushakti Coordinator Rohini Gharote, and through the coordination of Prasad Pophali of the Literature Department and Deepali Hardas of the Visual Arts Department. many renowned landscape decoration artists from Vidarbha are working on the idea. Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat will inaugurate the initiative on Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

He will also inaugurate the exhibition and release the booklet. The exhibition will remain open on October 1, 2 and 3, between 8 am and 9 pm (except from 1 pm to 3 pm). All the citizens of Nagpur should visit this exhibition and take advantage of this opportunity to understand the work of the people who contributed to the nation and Sangh, appealed Sanskar Bharati’s Vidarbha Prant Mahamantri Vivek Kavathekar, Nagpur Mahanagar President Virendra Chandak, Working President Dr Mrunalini Dasture, Mantri Mukul Mule.
