ECI to commence registration for Nagpur Division Graduate Constituency from Oct 1

Bulk applications will not be accepted, individual registration mandatory
A special electoral registration campaign for the Nagpur Division Graduates’ Constituency will commence on October 1, informed Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Divisional Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer while addressing the press conference held at Divisional Office on Monday. She urged all eligible graduates across the division to participate in the registration process in large numbers.
The revision follows the impending retirement of MLC Abhijit Wanjari on December 6, 2026. Graduates who completed their degrees before November 1, 2022, as well as those already listed, are eligible for registration.
Applications may be submitted at 256 polling stations under designated officers. Online registration will also be introduced shortly, in line with a recent decision of the State Chief Electoral Officer.
According to the schedule, the first re-publication of notices will take place on 15 October, followed by a second on October 25. Claims and objections must be filed by November 6. The draft electoral rolls will be published on November 25, with objections accepted until December 10. These will be resolved by December 25, and the final rolls will be published on December 30. Graduates who miss the initial campaign may still register until ten days before final nominations, with a supplementary roll to be issued.
The Divisional Commissioner clarified that bulk applications will not be accepted. Individual registration is
mandatory, though postal submissions are permitted for those unable to apply in person. However, political parties and associations may not submit group applications, except in the case of family members sharing the same address.
The constituency covers Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts. In the 2020 elections, it recorded 2,06,454 voters across 322 polling centres. A network of 43 assistant registration officers and 256 designated officers will oversee the campaign, including 139 in Nagpur district alone.
Dr Itankar targets doubling electoral registration in distt
Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer aims to double the number of registered voters in the district through the electoral registration campaign. “Nagpur district comprises of nearly 1 lakh voters of total 2,06,454 voters in the constituency. This year, we aim to double the number before the elections,” stated Dr Itankar during a press briefing held at Collectorate on Monday. The District Collector will also be writing letters to Vice Chancellors, Principals, Government offices, and private institutions to encourage their members to register for the upcoming election.
