Seven eminent personalities from the fields of arts, science and literature will be conferred with Saptarshi Award for the year 2025 by the Hindu Research Foundation, Mumbai-Nagpur, a nationally active charitable organisation. The awards will be presented at a programme to be held at 10.30 am on October 5 at Kavikulaguru Kalidas Auditorium, Persistent Systems, IT Park.
The awardees include Padma Vibhushan Prof M M Sharma with Nagarjuna Award; Padma Shri Rameshji Patange with Maharshi Valmiki Award; Padma Shri Prahlad Ramarao with Acharya Bharadwaj Award; Padma Shri Dr Ravi Grover with Acharya Kanad Award; Prof Dr G Madhavi Lata with Vishwakarma Award; Prof Indranil Biswas with Aryabhatta Award; and Dr Anil Golhar with Acharya Sushrut Award.
The Saptarshi awards are annually presented to seven distinguished personalities in the fields of literature, arts, and science. The award comprises a cash prize of Rupees one lakh along with a certificate of honour. The programme will see the chief presence of Vedrishi A B S Shastri, Founder and Director of the Shri Maharshi Research Institute of Vedic Technology (SRIVT), Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. Dr Vedprakash Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Wardha, will preside over the event. The initiative by the Hindu Research Foundation aims to educate the current generation about the extraordinary contributions of ancient Indian sages such as Maharshi Valmiki, Nagarjuna, Acharya Bharadwaj, Acharya Kanad, Maharshi Vishwakarma, Aryabhatta, and Acharya Sushrut in the fields of literature, arts, and science, and to honour their timeless work globally. In the future, the Foundation aims to elevate these awards to an international level, akin to the Nobel Prize.
This year marks the fourth edition of the Saptarshi awards. Previously, the awards have honoured eminent personalities such as Padma Bhushan Nambi Narayanan, Padma Vibhushan Dr Raghunath Mashelkar, Padma Vibhushan Dr Shridharan, Padma Vibhushan Dr Anil Kakodkar, Padma Bhushan Dr Vijay Bhatkar, Padma Shri Dr Ganpati Yadav, Mahakavi Sudhakar Gaydhani, Bharat Ratna Dr C N R Rao, Padma Vibhushan Dr Jayant Narlikar, Padma Bhushan Dr S L Bhairappa, Padma Shri S Arunan, among others.
Dr T S Bhal, Harshvardhan Deshmukh, Abhishek Chacha, Preeti Ramakrishnan, Arvind Giri, and Jagannath Garat, and other organisers have appealed to the public to attend the event.
