- Ramdeobaba University, YCCE, GHRCE stand toppers among engineering colleges
Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Nagpur; Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER), Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) at Nagpur; Pharmacy Department of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University; Kishoritai Bhoyar College of Pharmacy, Shivaji Science College, Amravati, from Vidarbha, have improved their position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), whose results are out on Thursday. VNIT’s rank in the overall category is 86.
IIM, Nagpur is constantly improving its ranking. In 2023 it had earned 43rd rank in Management category; last year the institute got 31st ranking, and this year it stood at 25. Institute of Management Technology (IMT) at Nagpur secured 99th rank in Management category.
DMIHER which stood 23rd in the medical category in 2023, improved its rank to 23rd in 2024. This year it rose to Rank 20. DMIHER is second in Maharashtra among medical universities. In the colleges category, Amravati’s Shri Shivaji Science College stood at 93 improving its last year’s position of 99, while Institute of Science and Nagpur’s Shri Shivaji Science College are placed in the rank band of 151-200. Kumbhalkar College of Social Work of Wardha found its place in the rank band of 201-300 ranks.
Pharmacy Department of RTMNU secured 54th rank in the pharmacy colleges category. Kishoritai Bhoyar College of Pharmacy, Kamptee too has worked hard to get 66th rank in the pharmacy college category. It came first in Vidarbha from among the private pharmacy colleges. Dadasaheb Balpande College of Pharmacy came in the rank band of 101-125.
Maharashtra National Law University in Law category improved its rank to 28 as compared to its last year’s score. Last year it stood at 31st.
The Architecture School of VNIT also maintained 10th position this year. Ranking of Government Dental College and Hospital (GDCH) of Nagpur, which stood 3rd in Maharashtra and 20th in the country, has gone down. Last year it stood 2nd in Maharashtra and 15th in India. DMIHER’s Dental College ranked 36th in the country.
In the University category RTMNU came in Rank Band 51-100. DMIHER and VNIT stood in the rank band of
11-50 in the category of Sustainable Development Goals institutions
while RTMNU stood in the rank
band of 51-100 in the State Public University category. In the Engineering category, VNIT stood at 44th rank, while Ramdeobaba University topped over YCCE and G H Raisoni College of Engineering.
DMIHER and VNIT excel in several categories
Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research, Wardha (DMIHER) and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) found themselves excelling in the majority of categories of NIRF. DMIHER found among toppers in the Universities, Medical, Dental and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Institutions category. VNIT earned place in Overall, Engineering, Architecture and SDG.
