'Psychosis' is applicable to the Opposition's mental state because it is so completely disconnected with the reality of New India. 'Neurosis' is applicable to the Opposition because it is filled with every possible negative emotion about the Government and even the country. "Narcissism' gets applicable in the case of Opposition because it thinks so highly of itself that it can do no wrong ever.

“Whenever something good happens in the country, whenever the Government takes some substantive steps in people’s interests, the Opposition goes into mourning -- ‘Maatam’. It (the Opposition) is all the time trying to find faults with the Government .. and also the country”. - Dr. Sambit Patra, Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, during a media briefing LET us not brand this comment by the BJP spokesperson only as a political statement. Factually, common people of India, too, feel similarly about how the Opposition views national affairs. Also, it can be said safely that the political Opposition in general appears to be in mourning all the time for the past 10-11 years since the advent of Mr. Narendra Modi as Prime Minister of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre and in several other States -- so much so that common people now tend to believe that the Opposition is all the time dipped in grief and mourning ... unhappy as it is because the country is doing well under the Prime Minister, and is scaling newer heights.

In psychology, such a condition can be described variously -- as per symptoms. One term is ‘psychosis’ -- which points to a mental disorder that disconnects the person from reality. Another term is ‘neurosis’ is a mental disorder in which the person experiences continuous anxiety, worry, depression and moodiness, in addition to many negative emotions. The third term is ‘Narcissism’ in which the person thinks that he can do no wrong and that everybody else is inferior to him. In parts, all these three terms are applicable to India’s political Opposition. ‘Psychosis’ is applicable to the Opposition’s mental state because it is so completely disconnected with the reality of New India. ‘Neurosis’ is applicable to the Opposition because it is filled with every possible negative emotion about the Government and even the country. “Narcissism’ gets applicable in the case of Opposition because it thinks so highly of itself that it can do no wrong ever.

These three mental disorders have kept the Opposition away from the wonderful reality of New India. So, it holds the Government responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack; so it also agrees with American President that India has a “dead economy”; so it starts believing that the Election Commission or the Central Bureau of Investigation or the Enforcement Directorate or the Income Tax Department or every other national institution is hand-maiden of the Government; so it starts suspecting the integrity and capacity of India’s famed Armed Forces. ... ! In short, the Opposition believes psychotically and neurotically and narcissistically that India is nothing but a grand mess and that the whole population is dumb and only wisdom is stored in the brains of its (Opposition’s ) leaders.

But then, the country just does not understand and that is why things are going wrong all the time and everywhere!! So, the Opposition dips its head in grief and goes into mourning and stays in that state all the time -- shedding tears, and tears its own hair and clothes in fits of anger and exasperation. Engaged in that mental disorder, it does not want to hear no wise word from anyone -- including its own well-wishers and friends and common people with no vested interests. So, when some intellectually-oriented person asks the Opposition: “In such a condition, how will democracy function well?”, it just shrugs its shoulders and throws its hands up in despair and says, in effect, ‘Look what Modi has done to the country !!!!!!!!!!’. In common people’s thought, all that the Opposition does is sheer madness -- with complete disconnection from reality. That is the reason is goes into mourning when the nation celebrates an event or achievement. And the Opposition also feels very disappointed that some of its own members join the official delegations of India to different countries to explain “Operation Sindoor”. So, then also, it slips into mourning. And out of that condition, it issues various funeral orations debunking the Government and even the country -- thoughtlessly and shamelessly. And the final twist comes when Opposition leaders fail to understand why they are losing election after election.

There they land in another problem -- they cannot blame the people, and they cannot hail the people. So, they dip their heads in grief and slip into mourning. So, here is our Opposition -- not knowing how to respond to the situation around, not knowing whether to blame the Electronic Voting Machines or the Election Commission or even Parliament ... ! The Opposition goes to Parliament Houses, but does not participate in proceedings in a positive manner. And then they come out and blame the parliamentary system as a hand-maiden of the ruling party in general and the Prime Minister in particular. Pathetic! This word alone explains the condition of the Opposition. And another word to be noted is ‘mourning’!
