As 10 days of festivities come to end, on Anant Chaturdashi on Saturday, Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari and District Collector Dr Vipin Itankar jointly took stock of tanks constructed by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) for facilitating immersion of big idols. The two went around the city and took stock of the artificial tanks put up for idol immersion at various places in city. At about 216 places, the NMC has made arrangement for immersion of Lord Ganesh idols. Particularly the new tank at Gorewada is meant for immersion of big idols and NMC has placed cranes to lift the heavy idols.

The tank is bigger than one in place at Koradi meant for big idols immersion, said the NMC release. Ganesh idols of above six feet can be immersed in Gorewada tank while the tank at Police Like Takli can handle idols upto 6 feets. At Takli also, cranes have been deployed to assist with the lifting of the heavy idols during immersion. The third tank constructed at Kacchi Visa ground is meant for immersion of idols upto 5 feet only. Adequate lighting arrangements are put in place at all the tanks to ensure that devotees don’t face any trouble during the immersion of Lord Ganesh idols. The team of officers went around Gorewada, Koradi, Police Line Takli, and other places in the city. Senior officials of NMC accompanied the two officers and briefed them about the arrangements in place.
