THE men and women slum soccer teams, representing India, performed well at the recently concluded Homeless World Cup 2025 in Oslo, Norway.
In the women’s category, the Indian team finished a creditable seventh out of 24 participating nations. Similarly, the men’s team ended up 15 from the 48 countries which participated in the 10-day tournament.
The team was welcomed at Nagpur Airport by founder of Krida Vikas Sanstha Prof Vijay Barse.
Lauding the efforts of the teams, Barse said, “The historic achievement of Nagpur teams has become a source of pride for the country and an inspiration for the new generation. Slum Soccer aims to achieve all-round development of children from slums through football. This competition proves once again that sports can bring positive change in society.”
