Farmers across 11 districts of Madhya Pradesh received much-needed financial relief on Saturday as Rs 20.60 crore was disbursed directly into the bank accounts of 17,500 affected cultivators. The assistance, provided in response to recent crop damage caused by heavy rainfall and flooding, was transferred through a single-click system under the state’s disaster relief provisions.
The relief amount was credited following directions from Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav. CM earlier announced swift compensation for farmers hit by excessive rain.
The Chief Minister interacted virtually with several beneficiaries, assuring them of the government’s continued support. He stated that no farmer in the state would be left to struggle alone in the face of natural disasters.
“The Government is committed to ensuring timely and fair compensation. Our farmers’ well-being is our top priority,” he said.
Farmers from districts including Shivpuri, Damoh, Ashoknagar, Dhar, Chhatarpur and Raisen shared their experiences with the Chief Minister via video conferencing and expressed gratitude for the prompt response. Minister of Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Dharmendra Singh Lodhi was present during the interaction in Damoh. Senior officials, including Revenue Minister Karan Singh Verma, Additional Secretary to the CM Alok Singh, and Revenue Commissioner Anubha Srivastava, attended the event. Srivastava noted that provisions under the Revenue Book allow for immediate assistance to affected families, helping them to resume agricultural activities and stabilise livelihoods.
The State has recorded 1031.2 mm of rainfall this monsoon, 25% above average, with districts like Guna, Sheopur and Mandla among the worst affected.
In FY 2025-26, the Government has already distributed Rs 188.52 crore in relief funds. Notably, in August, the Chief Minister had sanctioned over Rs 30 crore for nearly 25,000 disaster-hit
families.
