Sane Guruji’s literary masterpiece “Shyamchi Aai”—an autobiographical narrative—holds a special place in Marathi literature and was beautifully brought to life on stage by local artists. The play was written by Prabhakarrao Thengdi, former teacher of Rajendra High School.
The play was organised to commemorate the birth centenary of the school’s founder, Yashwantrao, alias Babasaheb Nahatkar.
The play was led by former student Rohini Moharil, who delivered a moving and graceful portrayal of Shyam’s mother. Her performance left a deep
emotional impact on the audience.
The drama was held at Suresh Bhat Auditorium at Reshimbag.
This play served as an important initiative to instil cultural values in the younger generation. Key performances in the play included Manish Moharil, Anil Palkar, Vallabh Pathak, Aniket Kolhekar, Mohan Patrikar, Narayan Joshi, Mukund Vasule, Shobhana Moharil, Geeta Kale, Ujwala Andhare, Mangesh Bawse, and most notably, Rohini Moharil in the role of Shyam’s mother.
The event was inaugurated at the hands of Shrimant Raje Mudhoji Bhosale. Ramesh Thombre, President of the Institution, presided over the event.
The welcome address was delivered by Secretary Mohan Nahatkar.
Manoharrao Agrekar, Rashmi Thombre, Ashok Meshram, Ajay Nahatkar, Neeta Jadhav, Ranjana Chaudhary, and Prabhakarrao Thengdi were honoured with a shawl, shreeful, and a memento during the event.
Dr Pranav Thote; Pramod Marodkar, Headmaster, Vinayakrao Deshmukh High School; Mahesh Godbole; Dr Sapan Joshi, Gandhian thinker; and Seema Petkar were present during the event.
