For the upcoming Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections, the Indian National Congress (INC) showed faith on minority candidates as the party distributed more than 10 tickets in different Prabhags. The civic elections will be held after nine years in city and in this election, Congress is contesting in all 38 prabhags. All parties in this election distributed majority tickets to new faces and Congress is also among them. Keeping the population of minorities in mind, the Congress party gave tickets to minority candidates in all four wards of Prabhag Number 8 in this election. The Prabhag No 8, which consists of Mominpura, Golibar Chowk and Timki areas, has a majority of Muslim community and to attract their votes, Congress gave tickets to Saiyad Muskan Irfan (8A), Siraj Ansari (8B), Saiyada Begum Nizamuddin (8C), and Khan Wasim Nahim (8D).

Whereas, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gave only one ticket to a minority candidate named Kamil Ansari who is also from the same Prabhag No 8 constituency. Along with Ansari, former BJP MLA Vikas Kumbhare’s son, Shreyas Kumbhare got ticket from Prabhag No 8 for BJP. Trupti Rahul Khangar also got BJP’s ticket in this same Prabhag. Whereas, Kritika Yogesh Gonnade of Shiv Sena (Shinde) will contest in Prabhag No 8 as a part of Mahayuti. Congress also gave tickets to other minority candidates, including Shabnam Sheikh (3D), Shoaib Ansari (6B), Mohd Sheikh (6D), Asif Sheikh (7B), Kaimin Khan (11C), and Amanulla Khan (30D), in this polls.
