Staff Reporter:
TRAIN services on the
Howrah-Mumbai route of
South East Central Railway
(SECR) were severely disrupted on Tuesday night at
Raipur Junction following
the snapping of Overhead
Equipment (OHE) near
Urakura station of SECR
Raipur division.
The OHE on the line was
restored more than one and
a half years after the snapping and because of this
OHE breakdown three
express trains and one passenger train were affected
and halted at Junction for
hours. Hundreds of passengers were stuck at various
platforms of Raipur junction.
The trains which were
halted due to it were Bhagat
ki Kothi Express, Link
Express, Nautanwa Express
and one passenger train.
The commuters complained about the lack of
proper announcement
about arrival and temporary halts of the trains.
According to SECR officials, the major causes for
OHE failure are lorry hitting/trespass, tree falling,
overload and other reasons.
Because of it, railway faces
OHE breakdown at regular
intervals of time and causing problems to passengers
who are on trains and others ones at platforms.
On
Tuesday night, many of the
passengers complained that
due to breakdown of OHE,
they have experienced
power disruption in
several platforms of the
Raipur Junction.
