The Chhattisgarh Government has made key appointments to the State Information Commission. Former Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain has been appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner. In the same series, two key appointments have been made to the posts of State Information Commissioners.
These include retired IAS officer Umesh Kumar Agarwal and senior journalist Dr. Shirish Chandra Mishra.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, the service conditions, salary, and other allowances for all these appointments will be governed by the
“Right to Information (Term, Salary, Allowances
and Other Conditions of Service of Chief Information Commissioner, Information Commissioners in the Central Information Commission and State Information Commissions) Rules, 2019,” as per the Government of India’s notification dated October 24, 2019. The posts were lying vacant since a long time.
