Ton-up Arya leads Vidarbha to victory

 

 

struck her second successive century as Vidarbha defeated Baroda by 55 runs in their last Elite Group league match of the U-15 Women’s One-Day Trophy at Dr PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex, Vizianagaram on Saturday. Arya, who opened the innings, remained unbeaten on 104 as Vidarbha amassed 201-3 in 35 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat first. She shared an opening stand of 65 with Maahum Talib (14) and added 98 runs for the third wicket with Veera Om Donode (53).

 

Arya faced 96 balls, hitting 12 boundaries and three sixes, while Veera hit eight boundaries and a six. Arya finished with an overall tally of 361 runs from five matches and an average of 90.25. Vidarbha bowlers then took over and restricted Baroda to 148-9. Ayra Nandanwar and Janvi Bishnoi claimed two wickets each. Vidarbha finished with 12 points but failed to progress to the knock-out stage. Brief scores: Vidarbha 201-3 in 35 overs (Arya Pongde 104 not out, Veera Om Donode 53). Baroda 146-9 in 35 overs (Pratha Vanar 52, Aadhya Patel 35; Ayra Nandanwar 2-18, Janvi Bishnoi 2-37). Result: Vidarbha won by 55 runs.
