Staff Reporter :
CHIEF Minister Vishnu Deo Sai
announced to increase three percent dearness allowance (DA)
from 55 per cent to 58 per cent
for the State Government
employees. He was addressing
the eighth state level convention
of Rajya Karmachari Sangh
Chhattisgarh at Saraswati
Shiksha Sansthan, Saraswati
Vihar, Rohinipuram in the State
Capital on Sunday.
After this announcement, now,
State Government employees will
receive a 58 percent DA at par
with the Central Government
employees.
Sai said that employees are the backbone of governance and administration and it
is only due to their honesty, hard
work and sensitivity that the
Government’s plans, policies and
decisions are actually implemented on the ground.
He said that this decision will
provide real relief to employees
amid rising inflation. He said that
this decision reflects the
Government’s commitment to
employee-friendly policies.
Chief Minister Sai said that
special attention has been given to timely payment of pension,
gratuity and other retirement
benefits, so that the employees
do not face any inconvenience
at the time of retirement.
Sai clarified that it has been decided to
give DA at par with the Centre,
while other pending demands
will be discussed through the
committee.
The Chief Minister said that
many states of the country are
still lagging behind the DA of the
Centre, but the Chhattisgarh
Government has decided to give
DA equal to that of the Centre.
Currently, State Government
employees are paid a dearness
allowance at the rate of 55%.
Under CM Sai’s announcement,
effective January 1, 2026,
Government employees will be
paid the DA at the same rate as
the Central Government, at 58%.
Thus, the payment of an additional 3% DA will result in an
annual financial burden of Rs
540 crore on the State
Government. Furthermore, providing 3% dearness relief to pensioners will result in an additional Rs 108 crore annual financial burden.
