TO ENSURE the safety of citizens
as well as birds and animals, the
Jabalpur Municipal Corporation
has launched a major drive
against the use and sale of
banned Chinese manja. Acting
on the directions Municipal
Commissioner Ram Prakash
Ahirwar and district administration, extensive search operations were carried out across the
city, leading to the seizure of illegally sold Chinese manja and
charkhi (kite reels).
Special teams of the Municipal
Corporation conducted raids in
areas falling under Division No.
14 Vijay Nagar and Division No.
6. Shops in Gohalpur, Motilal
Nehru Ward, Chitranjan Das
Ward and Zakir Hussain Ward
were inspected during the operation. Traders were issued strict
warnings and informed about
legal action for selling the banned
manja.
Senior officials informed that
Chinese manja is not only prohibited by law but also poses a
serious threat to human life and
causes severe injuries to birds
and animals.
During the drive, a
large quantity of Chinese manja and whirls was seized and further legal procedures were completed.

Meanwhile, Collector
Raghvendra Singh and the
Municipal Commissioner have
appealed to citizens to use only
safe cotton thread for kite flying
and to immediately inform the
administration if anyone is found
selling Chinese manja.
