AN ACCIDENT occurred at
Gulshan Company, located in
the industrial area. A 52-yearold experienced worker died on
the spot after being caught in a
machine belt.
The situation was very tense
in the company premises following the incident as the company officials fled, and the villagers’ anger has erupted.
The deceased has been identified as Dhanraj Gujwar (52), a
resident of Kabar Pipla village.
During work, Dhanraj was suddenly caught in the moving
machine belt.
The accident was
so severe that he didn’t even get
a chance to react and died on the
spot. According to sources, the
deceased was working in the
company under a contractor.
As soon as the news of the accident spread, a large number of
villagers from Kabar Pipla and
the deceased’s family members
gathered at the company gate.
Seeing the crowd of villagers
and their anger, the company’s
manager and other responsible
officials fled the scene instead of
offering condolences or trying to
manage the situation.
The absence of any responsible official inside the company
has further fueled the anger of
the workers and villagers. This
death at Gulshan Company has
once again exposed the hollowness of industrial safety claims.
Was there no safety guard or
mesh on the machine belt? Was
a 52-year-old elderly employee
allowed to work alone on dangerous machinery?
Fleeing after the accident
shows that the management is
trying to hide its shortcomings.
Such industrial accidents
occurring continuously in the
area are a matter of serious concern. The villagers are demanding that a case of culpable homicide be registered against the
guilty contractor and company
management, and that the victim’s family be immediately given adequate compensation.
Police forces have reportedly
arrived in the area to maintain
law and order.
