OVER 1,500 students performed
yogasanas and Pranayam in unison during the district-level mass
Surya Namaskar organised
marking the birth anniversary of
Swami Vivekananda celebrated
as ‘Yuva Diwas’ on Monday.
Deputy Chief Minister and
District In-Charge Minister,
Jagdish Devda graced as chief
guest in the district-level mass
Surya Namaskar organised at
Pandit Lajja Shankar Jha
Government Model Higher
Secondary School.
The event witnessed the
enthusiastic participation of
prominent dignitaries included
Mayor, Jagat Bahadur Singh, MLA
Ashok Rohani, Dr Abhilash
Pandey and Santosh Warkade,
Jila Panchayat President, Asha
Gontia, Chairperson, JMC,
Rikunj Vij, State BJP Treasurer,
Akhilesh Jain, BJP City President,
Ratnesh Sonkar, Collector,
Raghavendra Singh, SP Sampat
Upadhayay, CEO, Jila Panchayat,
Abhishek Gehlot and others, who
joined the students in the yoga
session.
Addressing the gathering after
inaugural ceremony, Deputy CM
Devda extended his greetings to
the youth. He characterised
Swami Vivekananda not merely
as a saint, but as the
‘Consciousness of Modern India’,
whose ideologies remain vital for
the contemporary generation.
The Deputy Chief Minister
emphasised that yoga and Surya
Namaskar should be integrated
into daily life and noted that
Swami Vivekanand was instrumental in globalising yoga,
famously representing Indian
spiritual science at the World’s Parliament of Religions in
Chicago.
The programme followed a structured format synchronised with a Statewide
broadcast from Akashvani (All
India Radio) Bhopal.The event commenced with
the national song, Vande
Mataram. A recorded message
from Chief Minister Dr Mohan
Yadav was broadcast to all participants. A Hindi translation of
Swami Vivekananda’s iconic
Chicago speech was played,
inspiring the gathered students.
Later, following the radio
instructions, students performed
Surya Namaskar and
Pranayama. The programme
began with the national song,
Vande Mataram, and concluded with the National Anthem.
The District Education Officer,
Ghanshyam Soni, proposed a
vote of thanks. Similar mass
Surya Namaskar events were
reported across various educational institutions in both urban
and rural sectors of the district,
marking a widespread celebration of yogic traditions and youth
empowerment.
