DESPITE the ban, Chinese
kite string continue to prove
deadly. On Wednesday, a
heart-wrenching incident
occurred in the Linga area
under the Umranala police
outpost, where a brother and
sister returning home from
school were caught in a tangle of Chinese kite string. In
this accident, 4-year-old
Dhruvi Dade was seriously
injured, with her neck being
cut, damaging both her
esophagus and trachea.
On Wednesday afternoon, after
school, Dhruvi Dade was going
home with her brother.
Their
neighbour offered them a ride
home. Dhruvi was seated in front
on the motorcycle, while her
brother sat behind. After travelling a short distance, Dhruvi suddenly became entangled in
Chinese kite string lying on the
road. The string wrapped around
her neck, and in an instant, her
neck was cut, causing profuse
bleeding.
Panic ensued at the scene. The
child was immediately taken to
a nearby hospital, where doctors, after examination, stated
that both her esophagus
and trachea were severely cut.
Considering the
seriousness of her condition, she was immediately referred to Nagpur.
Around 9:40 PM on
Wednesday night, doctors
in Nagpur began an emergency operation on little
Dhruvi. Before the operation, due to the child’s
severe breathing difficulties, doctors inserted a
bypass tube to provide an
alternative airway, after
which the surgery was proceed.
Dhruvi’s father, Sonu
Dade, is employed as an operator at the Chhindwara District
Police Station. Upon learning of
the incident, Chhindwara MP,
Vivek ‘Bunty’ Sahu immediately
arranged for treatment at a hospital in Nagpur. He contacted the
father and assured him of all possible assistance.
