New Year celebrations continue from parties to prayers, picnics

The city welcomed the year 2026 with a vibrant mix of celebration, devotion and family outings. The night of December 31 was alive with music, lights, and festivities as people gathered with friends and family to ring in the New Year. Popular spots like Manubhan Tekri and board clubs were buzzing with energy, while residents captured memories in photos and videos, enjoying the city’s festive spirit well into the early hours.
 
As morning broke on January 1, the focus shifted from partying to devotion and leisure. Temples across the cities, including Bhojpur Mandir, Sindhi Colony Sai Temple, and the sacred sites in Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, saw overwhelming crowds as devotees thronged to offer prayers and seek blessings for the new year.
 
Gurudwaras at Eidgah Hills and local churches in Govindpura also welcomed visitors, reflecting the city’s communal harmony and spiritual enthusiasm. People participated in morning prayers,rituals and offerings, creating a lively yet serene atmosphere across religious centers. Alongside religious visits, popular picnic and leisure spots were bustling with activity.
 
The Boat Club saw families and friends enjoying shikara rides and boat rides, while parks and other scenic locations became hubs for photography, group activities, and leisurely strolls. At Polytechnic Chowk, traffic congestion reflected the sheer number of visitors heading to temples, parks, and recreational spots, highlighting the public’s eagerness to celebrate both socially and spiritually.
 
Various locations, from Manubhan Tekri to Gufa Mandir, showed people posing for photos, enjoying rides, and relishing the company of loved ones. City authorities noted that while the crowds were large, celebrations were peaceful, and safety measures were in place to ensure smooth movement.
