THE stretch of road at Orange City
Square, one of Nagpur’s busiest
intersections, has deteriorated to
an alarming extent even as the
city concludes its latest Municipal
Corporation elections. The junction, which handles thousands of
vehicles daily, now features a long,
uneven strip of eroded asphalt
where the top layer has collapsed
completely, exposing loose stones
and gravel. Speaking to ‘The
Hitavada’, a commuter said, the
damaged surface has turned routine travel into a daily test of balance and luck.
Motorcyclists are seen veering
sharply to avoid the ragged edge
of the road, while pedestrians
attempting to cross the junction
are forced to navigate shifting
rubble. The broken surface,
which runs along a significant
stretch of the crossing, has effectively created a hazardous off-road
corridor in the middle of an arterial route.
Traffic flow, already strained at
peak hours, slows abruptly near
the damaged section, increasing
the risk of sudden braking and
collisions.
Despite the scale of the damage, no repair work, temporary
patching or warning signage has
been put in place.
Local residents
and daily commuters note that
the deterioration has been visible
for months, raising questions
about routine road audits,
accountability and post-election
administrative priorities. With a new civic leadership
now in place, citizens are asking
whether the condition of vital

will finally receive attention or
continue to be ignored until a
