ECONOMIC Offences Wing (EOW), Rewa, caught
a computer operator posted in the office of
Tehsildar, Guhd in Rewa district red-handed while
accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for demanding bribe
in exchange for verification of an Economically
Weaker Section (EWS) certificate of the complainant’s daughter. The accused has been identified as Bhagwandin Chaurasia.
According to EOW officials, complainant,
Brijendra Mani Tripathi, a farmer and resident of
village Narraha, Tehsil Guhd in Rewa district,
lodged a complaint that his daughter’s EWS certificate application had been sent for verification
from Balaghat office to Guhd Tehsil office in October
2024. However, the computer operator deliberately
delayed verification and demanded Rs 10,000 to
complete the process.
After receiving the complaint,
EOW Rewa team laid a trap. As soon as the accused
called the complainant to Guhd Tehsil office to
collect the bribe, EOW team caught him red-handed while accepting the amount. Further legal action
against the accused is underway. The operation
was successfully conducted under the supervision
of EOW Rewa team comprised of Inspector Priyanka
