Birthday joy turns into mourning: Two youths killed in hit-and-run

 

 

What was meant to be a day of celebration ended in a heart-wrenching tragedy, as two young men lost their lives in a road accident on the outskirts of city. The incident occurred on Suraj Bharti’s birthday which left his family and friends in a deep shock. The deceased have been identified as Suraj Sheshnath Bharti (21) and Karan Tengar Shah (19), both residents of Rajiv Nagar. According to the police, Suraj had organised a small birthday party for his close friends earlier in the day. “Tuesday was Suraj’s birthday, and he had invited his friends to celebrate at the venue on Hingna Road. After the party, they were returning home in the evening,” said a Hingna Police Station official.

 

t around 4.45 pm, Suraj and Karan were riding a motorcycle (MH-40/CZ-1560), while their friends were travelling separately. When they reached near the bridge on Outer Ring Road on Mouda–Hingna Road, a speeding cargo vehicle allegedly rammed into their mobike. “The impact of the collision was severe. Both riders were thrown off the motorcycle and sustained serious injuries,” the Police official said. After hitting the motorcycle, the driver of the cargo vehicle fled the spot along with the vehicle, leaving the victims lying on the road. Their friends, who were following them, rushed to their help and immediately took them to a rural hospital in Hingna. However, doctors declared both Suraj and Karan dead on arrival. Hingna police have regsitered a case and started invstigation.
