Integration of all the independent States made Sardar Patel Iron Man: Purohit

 

HIGHLIGHTING the contribution of Sardar Patel in the struggle for Freedom and his valuable contribution in integrating 603 Princely States after the Independence, former Governor of Punjab and the Vice President and Trustee of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Banwarilal Purohit has said the difficult task of integration of all the independent states into one Bharat made him the Iron Man of India. Mr. Purohit was speaking after lighting the lamp to start the programme organised at Delhi Kendra of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Ex. Home Minister of India to commemorate his 150th Birth Anniversary.

 

The former Governor said, Sardar Patel was an unparalleled leader of the country and that the countrymen never forget this great feat he did for the country as an Iron man of India. His contribution in the freedom movement is invaluable, he added. On this occasion, Internationally Acclaimed Speaker Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna narrated ‘Sardar Katha’ on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. She beautifully narrated the katha on Sardar’s life along with her team artists.

 

She briefly shed a light on the early childhood of Sardar, his education, his contribution as a lawyer, his participation along with Dr. K M Munshi in various Satyagrahas launched by Mahatma Gandhi against the anti-Indian people policies of then British Government. Sardar remained in jail for six years while participating in the freedom struggle. Firm determination and oneness was the hallmark of his life. She called upon the students to emulate the qualities of Sardar Patel in their life and they must contribute to nation building by taking inspiration from the life of a great personality.
