A VIOLENT altercation broke
out in the Ayodhya Nagar locality on the night of January 18
after a group of inebriated residents allegedly assaulted a
youth and his female friend for
walking and tending to street
dogs. The victim, who sustained
severe head injuries, is currently
undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
The complainant, Rishabh
Dhakad, a resident of Rajiv
Nagar, told the police that he
and his friend, Tanu Vyas, are
animal welfare volunteers who
look after street dogs alongside
their studies.
According to the
FIR, the incident occurred
around 10:40 PM while the duo
was walking dogs in the Amrit
Enclave colony.
The victims alleged that an
Amrit Enclave resident, identified as Sameer Look,
approached them in an intoxicated state and began misbehaving with Tanu Vyas. When
Tanu attempted to leave the
spot to avoid a confrontation,
Sameer, accompanied by his
wife Archana Look and several others, intercepted them.
The situation escalated rapidly as the group began hurling
verbal abuses and manhandling
the duo. When Rishabh intervened to protect his friend, he
was reportedly attacked by Nikki
Nair and Ravi Rajput. The
accused allegedly used a wooden staff (lathi) to strike Rishabh
on his head and back, causing
profuse bleeding.
Another individual reportedly attempted to
strangle Rishabh while issuing
life threats.The assault was
eventually broken up by other
neighbors who rushed to the
spot upon hearing the commotion. Rishabh was immediately shifted to Pranjal Medicity
Hospital for emergency care.
