In a significant display of communal harmony and State-led social welfare, a mass marriage ceremony was conducted at Garrison Ground, Sadar on Friday. The event coincided with the festival of Basant Panchami. Under the aegis of the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Vivah/Nikah Yojana, a total of 121 couples, including 3 Muslim couples, entered into wedlock. The event served as a testament to the State’s commitment to supporting economically disadvantaged families, ensuring that the financial burden of marriage does not lead to debt or distress. Union Minister, JP Nadda and Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav attended the grand event, organised on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami. The Chief Minister showered flower petals on the newlyweds and their families and presented symbolic cheques to the couples to provide a foundation for their future.
 
Union Health Minister Nadda also blessed the couples, wishing them a happy married life and encouraging them to serve society and the nation. The highlight of the event was the display of communal harmony, as 118 Hindu couples were wed according to Vedic rituals alongside the Nikah ceremonies of three Muslim couples under the same campus. Dr Yadav praised this unity, stating that the day served as an example for society. The ceremony commenced with Vedic chants by priests and lighting of traditional lamp.
 
As the couples exchanged garlands, the Chief Minister interacted with them personally to ensure the adequacy of the arrangements. Prominent leaders, including Members of Parliament Ashish Dubey and Sumitra Valmiki, alongside PWD Minister Rakesh Singh, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh, Swami Raghavdevacharya and Sadhvi Gyaneshwari Didi were present. Chief Minister Dr Yadav distributed cheques worth Rs 51,000 to each couple. This financial provision is intended to assist newlywed pairs from economically weaker sections in establishing their new households.The Chief Minister emphasised that the State remains committed to supporting the marital aspirations of its citizens through structured welfare initiatives. The atmosphere was described as celebratory, featuring traditional music and dance by the families of the brides and grooms.
