VARUN Bisht slammed a crucial century as Vidarbha piled up 377-7 in their first innings to claim Day One honours in their four-day U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy’s Elite Group B match against Hyderabad on Friday. Bisht scored 146 runs and had important partnerships which helped Vidarbha recover from a bad start. Vidarbha’s top-order failed to give them a solid start and were in deep trouble with 88-4 before Shree Choudhary (67) and Bisht added 111 runs for the fifth wicket to steady the ship.
 
Varun, who was in glorious form, completed his century in the company of Jagjot Sasan. The duo added 146 runs for the sixth wicket to put Vidarbha in command. Varun made 146 off 138 balls with 14 boundaries and seven sixes. Jagjot was inching towards his century and was batting on 89 when the day’s play ended.
