BIJAPUR :
A villager was seriously injured after stepping on a pressure IED planted by Maoists in the forests of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh. The incident occurred in the Lankapalli forest area under the Ilmidi police station limits of Usur block. According to the information received, the injured has been identified as Raju Modiyam (30). He had gone into the forest to collect firewood when he accidentally stepped on a pressure IED buried in the ground, triggering a powerful explosion. The blast caused severe injuries to his right leg.
Immediately after the incident,
villagers who were accompanying him rushed the injured man to the Primary Health Centre. Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to area. The surrounding forest region is also being thoroughly combed. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and panic in the region, as innocent civilians are falling victim to pressure IEDs planted by Maoists with the intention of targeting security forces. Local villagers have expressed serious concern over the increasing danger in forest areas.
