Kalmeshwar Correspondent :
A shocking murder case has come to light, where a 21-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death inside an OYO lodge. Kalmeshwar Police have registered a murder case against her lover, who is currently absconding.
The deceased has been identified as Ruchita Rajesh Bhange (21), a resident of Welcome Society, Borgaon, Nagpur. She was a final-year BA student at Dhanwate National College.
The accused has been identified as Saurabh alias Bittu Jamgade (25), a resident of Ashti.
According to police, Ruchita and Saurabh were in a love relationship for some time. However, frequent arguments, harassment, and physical assaults had taken place between them. Based on a complaint filed by Ruchita’s father, Rajesh Bhange, police said the accused was stalking and harassing her despite repeated warnings from the family.
A senior police official said, “Four days ago, the accused had assaulted the woman during police recruitment exam preparations and had taken away her mobile phone. The victim had informed her friend about this incident.”
On January 22, Ruchita left home in the afternoon but did not return. After searching for her, the family was informed by police on January 23 that her body was found in room number 105 on the first floor of an OYO lodge in Fetri.
Her body was lying in a pool of blood on the bed and a knife was found at the spot.
Police said that during a heated argument at the lodge, the accused stabbed Ruchita in the neck, killing her on the spot. “After committing the murder, the accused escaped by jumping from the first floor of the lodge,” a police officer said.
A case has been registered under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and statements of hotel staff and locals are being recorded. “Efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused at the earliest,” police added.
