Adhartal police arrest two accused with firearm, live cartridge, knife

 

 

 

Adhartal police have arrested two accused and seized a firearm, a live cartridge and a knife from them. The arrested have been identified as Shani Barman (20), son of Ganesh Barman, resident of village Bagaudi, Belkhadu outpost, Katangi police station and Shani Chaudhary (23), son of Suresh Chaudhary, resident of village Bharra, Belkhadu outpost, Katangi. SHO of Adhartal police station, Praveen Kumre informed that on the night of January 23, 2026, during routine patrolling near the main gate of Adhartal Talab, two youths were found standing in suspicious circumstances. On noticing the police, both attempted to escape but were apprehended after a chase.

 

On inquiry, the accused identified themselves as Shani Barman and Shani Chaudhary. During their search, a country-made pistol was recovered from the jacket pocket of Shani Barman. On checking, one live cartridge was found loaded in the pistol. Similarly, a button-operated knife was recovered from the waist of Shani Chaudhary. The police seized the country-made pistol along with the cartridge from Shani Barman and the knife from Shani Chaudhary. Separate cases have been registered against Shani Barman under Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act and against Shani Chaudhary under Section 25 of the Arms Act. The miscreants were apprehended with active working of police team comprised of SI, Deepak Mandloi, Head Constable Ajit Patel, Brijendra Lokhande, Manoj Pandey, Constables Mahesh Kahar and Anil Sharma.
