19-year-old student killed in bus collision at Mandi Gate; friend critical

 

 

 

Reckless driving on city roads claimed another life on Saturday night when a 19-year-old student was killed and her friend left battling for life following a horrific collision in front of the New Mandi Gate. The victims, identified as Mahi Yadav and her companion, were returning home on their scooter from People’s Mall when the tragedy struck. According to Chhola Mandir police, a passenger bus bearing a Rajasthan registration number collided with the victims’ Activa scooter with immense force. Yadav sustained life-threatening injuries upon impact. Although she was rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

 

Her friend remains in critical condition at a private medical facility. Following a post-mortem examination on Sunday afternoon, the body was handed over to the grieving family. Police have registered a case, seized the bus, and initiated a detailed investigation into the circumstances of the crash. The bereaved family has leveled serious allegations against the bus operator, claiming the vehicle was being plying illegally. They stated that despite being registered in Rajasthan, the bus was frequently operated on the Sironj-Bhopal route without valid local permits.
