Three persons from Chhattisgarh—Budhri Tati, Ramchandra Godbole, and Sunita Godbole—have been chosen for the prestigious Padma Shri Awards in the 2026 list announced by the Government of India on the eve of Republic Day.
The honours recognize distinguished contributions across diverse fields from individuals throughout the country.
Social worker Budhri Tati from Geedam in Dantewada district has been selected for the Padma Shri in social service. Hailing from Barsoor in the same district, Ramchandra Godbole and his wife Sunita Godbole have also been chosen for the
Padma Shri for their outstanding work. In a telephone conversation with The Hitavada, Ramchandra Godbole said, “My wife and I have been working for over a decade to eradicate malnutrition in the Bastar region. We are delighted to receive the Padma Shri recognition.”
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has congratulated Budhri Tati, Ramchandra Godbole, and Sunita Godbole, who have been chosen for the prestigious Padma Shri Awards in the 2026. Chief Minister Sai wished the three personalities on being selected for the Padma Shri Awards. The CM said that it was a matter of pride for Chhattisgarh. The three dignitaries have made Chhattisgarh proud with their spirit of service, human compassion, and social commitment, he added. Budhri Tati, a resident of Hiranar village in Dantewada district, will be awarded the Padma Shri for women empowerment, tribal upliftment and social service. Dr Ramchandra Trimbak Godbole and his wife Sunita Godbole will be jointly awarded the Padma Shri award for their exemplary contribution in the field of medical service. Ayurvedic doctor Dr Godbole and his wife have been providing free medical services in extremely remote tribal areas like Bastar and Abujhmarh
