Crime Branch and Madhotal Police nabbed a drug peddler and seized 41.35 grams smack amounting to Rs 8.27 lakh from him. The arrested has been identified as Rishabh Rajesh Sonkar alias Babu Sonkar (23), a resident near Peshkari School, Bhartipur in Badi Omti area. SHO of Madhotal Police Station Virendra Singh Pawar informed that the police team spotted a person riding a white Activa scooter without a registration number near a transformer on the under-construction road at Scheme No. 65, Gram Basa, moving towards the National Highway. On suspicion, the person was stopped and questioned.
The accused identified himself as Rishabh Sonkar alias Babu Sonkar of Omti area. In the checking of his scooter, police recovered a transparent packet containing illegal stock of smack.
Following NDPS Act procedures, the substance was weighed and found to be 41.35 grams of smack, valued at approximately Rs 8.27 lakh. During personal search, police also recovered one Samsung Android mobile phone and one keypad mobile phone. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had procured the smack from Babita Sonkar, a resident of Bhartipur, Badi Omti
and was transporting it to
sell to drug addicts along
the highway after preparing small packets. Police seized the smack, both mobile phones, and the Activa scooter used in the crime.
A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 8 and 21 of the NDPS Act and further investigation is underway.
The peddler was arrested with active working of police team comprised of SI, Sanjay Bahadur Singh, ASI, Beniram Uike, Constables Shailendra Yadav and Pratik Bagri and under the supervision of Crime Branch In-charge Shailesh Mishra, ASI, Naresh Pasi, Head Constable Rajesh Pandey, Rustam Ali, Akhilesh Pandey, Constable Govind Rai, Cyber Cell SI, Kapoor Singh and Constables Arvind and Neeraj Upadhyay.
