Speeding car injures 3 in Sitabuldi market

Panic gripped the busy Sitabuldi main market area on Sunday afternoon after a speeding car rammed into pedestrians and an auto-rickshaw, leaving three people injured, including a young woman. According to police, the driver lost control of the car while driving through the crowded market at around 1.30 pm. The car first hit 21-year-old Sara Chavan, causing serious injuries. It then struck Amol Gokul Mane on his leg and finally crashed into an auto-rickshaw driven by Sheikh Iqbal Sheikh Kapoor.
 
“The driver was negligent while driving in a crowded area. Immediate action was taken after the incident,” said a Sitabuldi police officer. Sara Chavan is undergoing treatment at Lata Mangeshkar Hospital, while the other two injured persons have been admitted to Mayo Hospital. Police have identified the accused driver as Garibullah Mangal Salmani (50) and arrested him. A case has been registered under relevant sections.
