Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) started work on laying a new DP road in Seminary Hills area. The 700-metre road is going to provide direct connectivity from Seminary Hills to Ravi Nagar road, as it is being laid through the land belonging to Veterinary College and MAFSU varsity. NMC recently received nod from Urban Development Department (UDD) for diversion of two institutions’ land for laying the new road.
Municipal Commissioner Dr Abhijeet Chaudhari on Tuesday inspected the ongoing work and interacted with civic body officials. The NMC has started clearing the bushes that had grown on the semi-forest land and the Commissioner directed officials to ensure that work stands completed within a period of one year.
The new road seeks to provide easy path for movement to and fro from Ravi Nagar to Seminary Hills. Right now, people have to take a large detour, either from Air Force Maintenance Command
(AFMC) side or from TV Tower
Square. Especially those residing in Gittikhadan, Surendragarh and other surrounding localities would greatly benefit once the 24 metre road is opened for traffic movement. An amount of Rs 22 crore is estimated to be spent on construction of the new road. The road would take off from near Veterinary College and connect with Civil Lines near Futala T-point, providing ease of connectivity. Chief Engineer Manoj Talewar, Deputy Commissioner Ganesh Rathod, Executive Engineer Manoj Gadre, Garden Superintendent Amol Chourpagar, Deputy Engineer Pramod Mokade, Narendra Bhandarkar and other officials were also present.
