Minor girl gang-raped in Bhilai, two juveniles held

 

 

 

In a shocking incident, a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped in the BRP Colony area of Bhilai, following which police took two juvenile into custody on rape charges. The delinquent juveniles were produced before the court and sent to a correction home as per legal procedure. Police sources said that, according to the victim’s complaint, the incident occurred around 6 pm on Wednesday. The victim minor girl, accompanied by her parents, reached the police station and further stated in her complaint that the delinquent juveniles allegedly lured her to an abandoned building area and raped her in a fenced plot near BRP Colony in Maroda, Bhilai.

 

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother, who was searching for her daughter, reached the spot, prompting the accused to flee. After the complaint was lodged later in the evening, a Newai police team immediately launched an operation and apprehended the two juveniles allegedly involved in the heinous crime. Further investigation is underway to initiate additional legal action in the case. In the case the police have registered the offence under section 4 (2) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act and 70 (2) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police are investigating to initiate further legal action in the matter. ASP Manishankar Chandra, Spokesperson of Durg Police, said that juveniles have already been taken into custody. Police are proceeding with the matter in accordance with legal provisions.
