In a significant administrative overhaul, the Madhya Pradesh Home Department has issued transfer and posting orders for 14 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. The reshuffle affects key positions across the Police Headquarters (PHQ), various zones, and specialised units. New Leadership for Bhopal and Ujjain: In one of the most prominent changes, Sanjay Kumar (2004 batch), previously serving as Inspector General (IG) of Balaghat Zone, has been appointed as the new Police Commissioner of Bhopal. He replaces Harinarayan Chari Mishra, who has been posted as Inspector General (SCRB) at the Police Headquarters. Umesh Joga (1997 batch), the Additional Director General (ADG) of Ujjain Zone, has been seconded to the Transport Department as the new Transport Commissioner of Madhya Pradesh. Taking his place in Ujjain, Rakesh Gupta (1999 batch) has been shifted from his current role as Director of Sports and Youth Welfare to serve as ADG Ujjain Zone.

 

Key appointments at Police Headquarters: Pankaj Kumar Srivastava (1992 batch): appointed Special Director General (CID) with additional charge of Special DG (Vigilance) at PHQ Bhopal. Anant Kumar Singh (1994 batch): Following his return from central deputation, he has been appointed Special Director General and Managing Director of the MP Police Housing Corporation. KP Venkateswara Rao (1995 batch): named ADG (Technical Services) with additional responsibility for Anti-Naxal Operations. D Srinivas Varma (1997 batch) appointed ADG (Narcotics) at PHQ Bhopal, with the additional charge of the Special Task Force (STF). Shifts in specialised departments: Vivek Sharma (1998 batch) has been recalled from the Transport Department and posted as ADG (PTRI) at PHQ. Anshuman Yadav (1998 batch), formerly ADG at PHQ, has been seconded to the Sports and Youth Welfare Department as its new Director.

 

Zonal and field postings: The reshuffle also saw significant movement at the Inspector General level. Abhay Singh (2002 batch): shifted from IG Bhopal (Rural) to IG (Planning) at PHQ. Sanjay Tiwari (2004 batch): appointed IG Bhopal (Rural) Zone. Chaitra N (2006 batch): appointed IG Shahdol Zone, moving from her role at SCRB. Lalit Shakyawar (2008 batch): Appointed IG Balaghat Zone, moving from his position in complaints and Human Rights at PHQ.
