Despite a slight dip in the total number of accidents compared to previous years, the city’s roads remained lethal in 2025. A comprehensive review by the Traffic Police revealed that 2,867 road accidents were recorded throughout the year, resulting in 214 fatalities and leaving 2,163 people injured. The analysis identifies over-speeding as the single largest contributor to these tragedies. Other critical factors included driving under the influence of alcohol and the failure to use safety gear such as helmets and seat belts. Misrod and Narmadapuram Road the danger zones: Misrod police station area recorded the highest number of fatalities in the city. In 2025, 183 accidents occurred in this jurisdiction, claiming 26 lives and injuring 123. Traffic officials noted that while roads in Misrod are wide and well-maintained, an excessive number of “cut points” leads to drivers losing control at high speeds. Narmadapuram Road continues to be the most accident-prone stretch. The removal of the BRTS corridor has widened the road, inadvertently encouraging speeding, particularly during night hours.

Top Accident-Prone Areas (2025): Misrod: 26 Deaths (183 Accidents) Kohefiza: 21 Deaths (199 Accidents) Kolar: 18 Deaths (149 Accidents) Chhola Mandir: 15 Deaths (105 Accidents) TT Nagar: 14 Deaths (146 Accidents) Nishatpura: 13 Deaths (122 Accidents) Infrastructure and Design Flaws: The report highlights significant engineering issues. In Kohefiza, poor lighting and the absence of traffic signals at key intersections create confusion for motorists. In Kolar, the transition to a six-lane road has led to rampant over-speeding. Furthermore, the removal of railings separating service lanes from the main road between Misrod and Samardha allows vehicles to merge abruptly, causing high-impact collisions. To combat this, the Traffic Police have identified 16 Black Spots, locations with a recurring history of severe accidents. Work orders have already been issued for improvements at 1250 Junction, Tarun Pushkar and the Govindpura turning.
