In a heart-wrenching incident in the Idgah Hills area of the State capital, a 10-month-old girl lost her life after drowning in a water-filled bucket on Wednesday night. The tragedy occurred at PNB Colony when the infant, momentarily out of her mother’s sight, crawled into the bathroom and fell face-first into the bucket. The victim’s father, Karan Singh Jatav, resides in a flat with his wife, a five-year-old son, and the infant daughter. According to police reports, the family was engaged in routine household activities at approximately 10:30 pm. The mother was busy in the kitchen while the child was playing in the living area. Unnoticed, the infant managed to reach the bathroom, where a bucket filled with water had been left on the floor.

Investigating officers stated that the child likely lost her balance and fell into the bucket head-first. Unable to extricate herself, she drowned within minutes. After about 10 minutes, the mother realised the child was missing and enquired with her elder son. When he expressed ignorance, a frantic search led the mother to the bathroom. She discovered the infant submerged in the bucket with her legs protruding upwards. The family immediately rushed the unconscious child to Hamidia Hospital. However, doctors conducted an examination and declared her brought dead.
