Bizarre: Seized car handcuffed by cops

 

 

 

 In an unusual incident at Lordganj Police Station, a car belonging to a drunk driver was handcuffed instead of the driver and the vehicle was parked at the police station. A white Maruti Ertiga was seen with a handcuff attached to its door inside the police station premises. The incident was captured in CCTV cameras installed at the station. CSP Ritesh Shiv confirmed that the driver, Pratham Kumar, car owner had been booked two days back for driving in drunken stupor and action was taken against the driver under Section 185 of Motor Vehicles Act. While the driver was later released, the car was seized and brought to Lordganj Police Station. Instead of using a chain, a handcuff was used. He added that a clerical error by a duty officer at the police station led to the handcuff being attached to the car instead of using a chain. The officer responsible has been asked to provide an explanation for the case.
